A 32-year-old man who assaulted and strangled a woman in Feltwell has been jailed.

Bradley Thorpe, of no fixed abode but with connections in Norfolk and Suffolk, appeared at Cambridge Crown Court on Tuesday where he was sentenced to three years’ imprisonment for assault causing actual bodily harm, and an 18-month concurrent sentenced for intentional strangulation.

The offences took place in November 2024 and relate to one victim. Thorpe was physically violent towards the victim following a verbal argument, punching her repeatedly, biting her nose and strangling her.

In a victim personal statement, read aloud in court, the victim explained the effect Thorpe’s offending had, saying: “In such a short time span I have been made into a shadow of myself. I honestly wished on occasions that I was dead and I never let him in my life.

“I am petrified to speak with people or introduce anyone new into my life over fear they could repeat what Bradley has done.”

Thorpe was also made subject to a criminal behaviour order (CBO) for 20-years to prevent any further violence against women. The order states that he must stop all contact and communication with any woman in England and Wales, as soon as that woman requests him to.

Following the sentencing, Sgt Donna Wiseman from the Operational Partnership Team said: “Thorpe’s offending was incredibly violent and has deeply affected the victim and her day-to-day life.

“I would like to commend her for her bravery in supporting this process and reporting it to us.

“Norfolk Police will always support victims and thoroughly investigate any report we receive. We will work to do whatever we can to bring offenders to justice.”
