A man has died following a two-vehicle collision on the A14 at Stowmarket, last night.

Police were called at 11:41pm yesterday, Thursday 20 February, to reports of a collision involving a car and an HGV vehicle on the westbound carriageway of the A14 near to junction 49.

A black Ford C-Max car was in collision with a Volvo Skip Loader vehicle, parked in a layby.

Ambulance, a paramedic from Suffolk Accident Rescue Service (SARS) and fire crews were also in attendance but the driver of the car – a man aged in his 60s – was sadly declared deceased at the scene.

The road between junctions 50 and 49 of A14 was closed for several hours, reopening at 7:30am this morning (Friday 21 February).

Officers are appealing for any witnesses to the incident, or for any motorists who travelled westbound on the A14 between Felixstowe and Stowmarket after 11:00pm last night and who have dash-cam footage, to contact police.
