Man charged following knife incident in Ipswich

A man has been charged in connection with a reported knife incident in Ipswich.

Police say the incident took place shortly before 10.30pm on Wednesday (8 April 2026) outside a shop in Bramford Road, near to the junction with Rendlesham Road.

A male suspect is alleged to have threatened one man aged in his 40s and attempted to stab another man aged in their 50s, before running from the area.

Riley Clarke, 22, of Downing Close, Ipswich, was arrested on Sunday (12 April).

He was taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning and was subsequently charged with Section 18 attempted wounding with intent and possession of offensive in a public place.

He appeared at Ipswich Magistrates’ Court on Monday (13 April), where he was remanded by the court to appear at Ipswich Crown Court on 11 May 2026.
