Man charged after armed police incident in Brandon

A man is due in court today following an armed police incident in Brandon that lasted 11 hours.

Police were called shortly before 10:10pm on 28th January to a block of flats on Yew Drive, after reports that a man was threatening to harm himself and others.

When officers arrived, the man also made threats towards them and continued to endanger himself.

Armed police, negotiators, ambulance crews, and firefighters attended, safely resolving the situation by around 9am the following day.

A man aged in his 30s was arrested in connection with the incident and transferred to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

Adam Moran, of Yew Drive in Brandon, has now been charged with sending communication threatening death or serious harm.

Moran is scheduled to appear before Ipswich Magistrates’ Court on 30th January.

Reassurance patrols will be operating in the area for local residents, and anyone with concerns is encouraged to speak to officers.
