Man arrested after climbing onto rooftop in Ipswich town centre
Emergency services called to Carr Street early this morning
A man has been arrested in Ipswich town centre after a six hour stand-off with police through the early hours.
Police responded to reports of a man on the roof of a building in Carr Street at 2.20am.
Emergency services quickly arrived and established a cordon around the area.
The man eventually descended from the rooftop just before 9am and was taken into custody.
He was then escorted to hospital for treatment.
Following the arrest, the cordon was removed and attempts are being made to secure the shop by boarding it up.
