Man arrested after vehicle stolen in Carlton Colville
It happened around 3am.
Police have arrested a man after an incident where a vehicle was stolen from a driveway in Carlton Colville.
Officer received a report that a vehicle had been taken from his driveway in the early hours of this morning at about 3am.
Police enquiries located the vehicle , a VW Caddy, in Gillingham and after the vehicle failed to stop, an authorised pursuit was conducted that lasted around 17 minutes.
A ‘stinger’ was deployed that successfully and safely brought the pursuit to an end at Carlton Colville. Two people decamped from the vehicle – one of which was arrested on suspicion of theft of a vehicle and burglary.
A male in his 40s was taken to Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre. He was subsequently bailed pending further enquiries until 5 December. Enquiries are on-going to locate the second suspect.
Four other vehicles from locations around the county have also been recently located – these relate to separate crimes which are unrelated to the Carlton Colville theft. These were a Mercedes stolen from Eye and recovered in Thwaite; a Lexus stolen from Debenham on 29 August and recovered from Great Blakenham; a Saab stolen on 31 August and recovered from Boston and a Toyota Starlet stolen on 4 September and also recovered.
Inspector Liz Casey said: “The arrest made in relation to the Carlton Colville incident was an extremely professional and safely executed piece of policing by officers. No-one was hurt in the incident and our enquiries are on-going to locate the second suspect.
“Our investigations to establish the circumstances of the other stolen vehicles mentioned shows our on going commitment to tackling vehicle crime.”
