Police in the east of Suffolk are urging residents to be vigilant after a recent spate of suspected arsons in the area.

Police have received three reports of suspected arsons within the Lowestoft area in recent weeks, which they believe may be linked.

Officers received reports of burnt cardboard at the children's play area at Fen Park on Southwell Road and evidence that a fire had been set on the rubber matting where the round swing is usually sited. This incident occurred sometime between Saturday 1 February and Monday 3 February.

In a second incident, officers received reports that a fire had been started at Normanston Park in the skate park at around 4.50pm on Thursday 13 February. No damage occurred and the fire was put out safely by the Fire Services.

Following this, another incident at Fen Park was reported to the police. It is believed that, at around 5.15pm on Thursday 13 February, a group of five young men started a fire in the bushes before putting the fire out themselves and leaving the scene.

Whilst there were no injuries in the above reported incidents, officers are encouraging residents to be vigilant and are appealing for any witnesses to these incidents and asking any motorists driving in the area at the time of the incidents with a dashcam fitted in their vehicle, or anyone with CCTV in the area to review the footage for any material that may be of assistance.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Suffolk Police.
