63-year-old Kevin Johnson sentenced for thousands of illegal images
A Lowestoft man has been given a suspended sentence after admitting to making and distributing over 2,000 indecent images of children.
Kevin Johnson, 63, residing on Green Drive, appeared at Norwich Magistrates’ Court on 6th August 2026, receiving a sentence of two years and eight months' imprisonment, suspended for two years.
The court heard that Johnson pleaded guilty to six charges, including making and distributing indecent images, and was given a 12-day rehabilitation order.
He will be required to sign the sex offender register for life and adhere to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for 15 years.
Investigation and Sentencing
Johnson was arrested by Suffolk's Internet Child Abuse Investigation Team after police intelligence suggested he was engaged in online chat groups known for discussing sexual interest in children.
His arrest took place at his home on 27th June 2023.
A search of his property led to the seizure of electronic devices, revealing hundreds of Category A, B, and C illegal images and videos, along with extreme pornography.
Detective Sergeant Mark Cotton commented: “Johnson’s conviction has come as a result of proactive investigation into child sexual exploitation."
Johnson's claims of attempting to catch abusers were unsupported by evidence, according to authorities.

Although Johnson avoided immediate imprisonment, his actions will be closely monitored under the conditions of his Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
