Lorry driver seriously injured during A14 crash

The westbound carriageway remains closed between Sproughton and Whitehouse

A lorry driver is in a critical condition in hospital following a crash on the A14 at Sproughton

Emergency services were called out to the collision, which involved two lorries on the westbound carriageway, shortly after 7:30pm on Tuesday (3 March).

One of the drivers, a man in his 60s, sustained serious injuries and is now is a critical but stable condition at Addenbrookes' Hospital.

The road was closed in both directions between Copdock and Whitehouse, with the eastbound carriageway reopening shortly after 12:35am on Wednesday (4 March).

The westbound carriageway remains closed between Sproughton and Whitehouse and is expected to remain closed for several hours.

This is so vehicles can be recovered and to allow Highways England to assess the condition of the road following a fuel spill as result the collision.
