A couple who's static caravan set ablaze in Lakenheath this morning have "lost everything" according to their niece.

Olivia, who hasn't named her auntie and uncle says the pair are currently in hospital, after they safely escaped the fire, but the aftermath has left them facing the daunting task of rebuilding their lives from scratch.

The fire broke out on the morning of 7th July on Undley Road, Lakenheath. Crews from Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service, along with Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service and USAF Mildenhall Fire Department, responded to control the blaze.

According to Olivia, the couple lost their home and many of their possessions in the disaster. In response, she has launched a fundraiser to support their recovery, hoping to raise money for essential items like clothing, toiletries, and a new static caravan to provide them with a home.

Firefighters discovered the caravan, outbuildings, fencing, and nearby vegetation engulfed in flames upon arrival. They utilised hose reels, jets, and a USAF water bowser to prevent further spread.

East of England Ambulance Service treated two casualties onsite, while police and UK Power Networks attended due to overhead power lines and necessary road closures.
