Jeep drove wrong way on A14 after suspected hare coursing in Stowmarket
Police seek witnesses and dash cam footage of the incident
Police are seeking witnesses and dash cam footage after a Jeep was driven the wrong way on the A14 near Bury St Edmunds following suspected hare coursing.
The events unfolded after a report of hare coursing on private land in Westhorpe, Stowmarket on 13th February.
Police received an initial call at around 12:30pm and discovered that the suspects had fled the scene in a blue Jeep.
Their vehicle was tracked via back roads and later seen joining the westbound A14 at Junction 47 near Elmswell.
Officers, supported by the National Police Air Service (NPAS), engaged both marked and unmarked vehicles.
A rolling road block was put in place between junctions 43 and 42 around 1:35pm.
The Jeep attempted to evade the police by driving the wrong way on the A14 briefly.
The vehicle's occupants decamped and ran into woodland near the Howard Estate in Bury St Edmunds.
Police pursued and apprehended the men, seizing their Jeep and five dogs, with the A14 reopening by 2:10pm.
Four men in their 20s were arrested on suspicion of hare coursing, failing to stop for police, and dangerous driving.
They have been released on bail and are due to answer police questions on 13th May.
The Rural and Wildlife Team is appealing for any information or dash cam footage that could assist their investigation.
