The Club is proud to support Ipswich’s bid to become the UK City of Culture 2029.

The bid looks to celebrate and support communities in Ipswich, using culture as a catalyst for transforming the town.

The club will work closely with Jack Abbott MP, who is championing the Ipswich bid, as well as Ipswich Borough Council, Ipswich Central and arts and cultural organisations including Dance East, Brighten the Corners and New Wolsey Theatre Company.

With the pledge now made to submit the bid, a longlist of eight will be finalised in February 2026, progressing to a shortlist of four in Summer 2026, with the winner then announced before the end of the year.

The winning bid will receive £10m from the Department for Culture, Media and Sport to deliver on the programme and its legacy.

Town Chairman, Mark Ashton, said: “As a club we are excited to be supporting Ipswich’s bid to become UK City of Culture in 2029.

“We are incredibly proud to be able to represent the town and Suffolk and see that responsibility as an important one, with this opportunity to highlight everything that is good about Ipswich something we can all fully get behind.”
