Ipswich Town has announced the signing of Abdul Fatawu, a Ghanaian winger from Leicester City.
Fatawu, 22, signs with Ipswich for an undisclosed fee and commits to a five-year contract until 2031.
He recently participated in the FIFA World Cup, featuring in all four of Ghana’s games, including a notable match against England.
The winger boasts a career playing in the Champions League during his time with Sporting in Portugal and nine goals in 44 appearances for Leicester during the 2025/26 season.
Set to join his new teammates at Ipswich’s training camp in La Manga, Fatawu expressed pride in signing for the club.
“The ambition the club has is very exciting and I’m looking forward to being a part of that,” he said.
Ipswich Manager Gary O’Neil praised Fatawu’s experience and attributes, highlighting his ability to challenge opponents one-on-one.
After gaining initial experience in Ghana, Fatawu joined Sporting in Portugal and represented Leicester in England.
Internationally, he has excelled, earning Player of the Tournament accolades at the U20 Africa Cup of Nations in 2021.
Ipswich and Fatawu are eager for the upcoming Premier League season and the role he will play for the club.
