Ipswich Rugby coach feels optimistic about England in the Six Nations
Freddie Steward's last start for England was against Ireland in their tournament opener, on February the 1st
A rugby coach in Suffolk is optimistic that England can not only beat Scotland today but also win the whole tournament.
We've been speaking to Drew Fautley an avid fan, player and long-term coach of the sport. Currently, he's coaching Ipswich Rugby Club.
He says "I see England might squeak out that the whole thing here because I think the France-Ireland game in the Aviva Stadium is going to be an absolute doozy."
Both teams have won and lost a game respectively so far in this year's Six Nations, so tension is high as we're hours away from the Calcutta Cup getting underway at Twickenham- this afternoon.
Head coach Steve Borthwick says England are a "very different" side to the one which was beaten by Scotland in last year's Calcutta Cup meeting.
"Shore up the defence"
Drew tells us his optimism doesn't come without concern.
"I think the defence for the most part, with the exception of maybe, France who has got a reasonably good defence, but England's defences are a little bit shocking at the moment.
"They've given up 52 points in one game, so that's 26 points on average...so they will have to shore up their defensive strategies to go into the next game."
And here is Suffolk we can't talk about the Scotland team without mentioning Marshall Sykes, who was born in Woodbridge and educated at Ipswich’s St Joseph’s College.
Drew tells us:
"I am a little bit gutted for local boy Marshall Sykes, who's a Saint Joe's boy and a Woodbridge rugby club boy, that has turned into a rather large human.
"He been on the training squad for squad Scotland and has had one cap against Tonga but didn't make the the 22 for this game. But it's great to see that he's in the mix as a local man from here."
Score predictions
But what will be the scores? Drew has been known to guess correctly in the past, could he do it again?
"Two to seven for Ireland Vs Wales.
"Scotland Vs England - sadly because of the English team's defence, they'll probably stick around for a bit. They'll get about 25, but I think England will get about 36.
"Although France in Italy has been close recently, I think France is hurt and I think they're going to get their stuff together and I think they'll give them a good chance. I'm going to say 32- 15."
The game gets underway from 4.45pm. You can see the full England line-up here.
