Ipswich match at Portsmouth postponed due to weather
The decision follows heavy rain throughout the night.
Ipswich Town’s scheduled Sky Bet Championship fixture against Portsmouth at Fratton Park has been postponed due to adverse weather conditions.
The match was originally set to take place at 7.45pm GMT today (3rd February) but has been called off as a result of a waterlogged pitch caused by persistent rainfall.
The decision follows heavy rain throughout the night and continuing into the morning, with forecasts suggesting that it would extend until close to kick-off. The pitch was deemed unplayable on already saturated ground.
For Ipswich fans who had been planning to travel to the game, including those booked on official club coaches departing from Portman Road, the club has not yet announced a rescheduled date for the fixture.
Portsmouth FC released a statement confirming the postponement:
“Pompey’s scheduled Championship fixture against Ipswich at Fratton Park this evening has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
“This is after persistent overnight rain, continuing into the morning and forecast to last until close to kick-off, has fallen on already saturated ground.”
Ipswich Town fans are advised to await further updates regarding the new match date and are encouraged to contact the club for further travel-related questions or assistance.
