Ipswich Police Station has been temporarily closed after its front doors were smashed in the early hours of this morning (28 August).

Officers say a 36-year-old man was taken into custody at approximately 2am on Princes Street on suspicion of committing criminal damage.

He is currently being questioned at Martlesham Police Investigation Centre.

The station will remain closed until the damaged doors are repaired.

In the meantime, urgent administrative services, including vehicle returns, should be directed to Bury St Edmunds Police Station on Raingate Street.
