Women arrested on suspicion of murder in Ipswich released on bail

A woman arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a man in Ipswich has been released on bail as police continue their enquiries.

Officers were called to an address in Hawthorn Drive, Ipswich shortly before 6pm on Wednesday 1 January.

Inside, they found 63-year-old William 'Billy' McNicholl, from Ipswich, dead.

A Home Office post-mortem took place on Saturday 4 January, with preliminary results indicating the cause of death was head injuries and a single stab wound.

A murder inquiry is currently being led by Suffolk Constabulary’s Major Investigation Team.

Officers arrested a woman aged in her 50s on Saturday 11 January, on suspicion of murder.

The woman was taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

She was subsequently bailed with conditions to return to police on 9th April.

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses and anyone with any information or who saw any suspicious activity near the address between Tuesday 24th December and Wednesday 1st January.
