Community police officers in Haverhill are intensifying efforts to combat anti-social behaviour, with the issuance of another Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO).

The latest recipient of this order is Kellie Ivy Daw, aged 35, who currently resides temporarily in Brandon.

The order prevents Daw from begging or drinking publicly in Haverhill town centre and will be in effect for two years.

Ipswich Magistrates issued this fourth CBO in the town on 28th September, while three additional cases are pending in the courts.

Pc Jack Oakley from the Haverhill Community Policing team explained the rationale behind the action, citing a high number of public complaints regarding anti-social behaviour in the town centre.

He stated, “We are continuing to take firm action as we receive a high number of complaints about ASB in the town centre. We have worked hard with our partner agencies to try to help meet the social and housing needs of members of the street drinking community.”

Oakley highlighted that enforcement is not the only focus, as persistent and disruptive begging often leads to other offences being committed.

Complaints included instances of begging from elderly veterans on Armistice Day last year, prompting police to assure the public and local businesses of their commitment to addressing anti-social behaviour.
