A 41-year-old man from Halesworth has been handed a suspended prison sentence after admitting to stalking a woman known to him.

Antony McCallum appeared at Ipswich Magistrates' Court on 2nd March, where he was sentenced to 12 weeks' imprisonment, suspended for 18 months.

He initially denied the charge before pleading guilty at an earlier hearing.

McCallum was given a two-year restraining order, a 12-month community order with 100 hours of unpaid work, and 15 days of rehabilitation activity.

He was also ordered to pay costs and charges amounting to £554.

The court was informed that McCallum persistently contacted the victim through phone calls and emails and would appear at her home and work unannounced.

Despite her repeated requests to stop, he continued his contact, demanding information and threatening her.

The victim shared that she has been left traumatized and living in constant fear due to McCallum's behavior.

PC Fraser Graham, the investigating officer, described McCallum's actions as displaying the obsessive nature characteristic of stalking.

Graham emphasized the importance of reporting such crimes to the police, assuring that victims would receive support.
