Two rescued from gas heater fire in Great Ashfield
It was caused by a faulty gas cylinder
Firefighters have rescued two people from a gas heater fire in Suffolk.
Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) was called at 2.18pm yesterday (Friday December 27) to a house fire in Elmswell Road, Great Ashfield.
It was caused by a faulty cylinder head in a gas cylinder which was being used to fuel a heater in the semi-detached property.
Three fire engines attended this incident, from Bury St Edmunds, Elmswell and Ixworth.
Two people living in the property, a man and a woman, were saved and given oxygen at the scene by firefighters, who were able to remove the heater and the cylinder from the house and extinguish the fire, which had caused heavy smoke logging throughout the property.
SFRS put out the fire by 3.39pm.
