Suffolk grandmother passes maths GCSE on fifth try

52 year old Wynne Hindle urges adult learners to persevere

A grandmother from Suffolk has successfully passed her GCSE maths exam on her fifth attempt.

Mother of three Wynne Hindle from Sudbury, achieved a grade four, marking the end of her four-year journey of persistence and learning.

The 52 year old who previously worked as a nanny and nursery nurse, accomplished this milestone after studying at West Suffolk College's adult learning centre in Bury St Edmunds.

She now aims to work at a primary school, either as a teaching assistant or learning support officer.

Ms Hindle said, "I just wanted to achieve something and I’m a resilient person," describing her determination to keep pursuing this goal despite setbacks.

"I find it hard to quit so I just kept going."

Reflecting on her success, she shared, "I was very happy and shocked to pass," expressing gratitude towards West Suffolk College and her tutor in particular."

Encouraging others in similar situations, Ms Hindle said, "My message to other adult learners is to keep at it."
