Football club’s parking bid to support young players re-submitted
A decision on the plans is expected in November
A football club’s bid to increase its parking provision to support young players has been resubmitted.
David Black and Son is seeking permission on behalf of Bacton United ‘89 Football Club to create 20 more car parking spaces at the football pitches at the Scout hut, off Rectory Road.
A similar planning application was submitted to Mid Suffolk District Council in March but was later withdrawn due to changes in planning law.
A planning statement said the pitches, which were provided for free by farmers and the landowner, were used by the club for its under-13 and under-15 teams, as well as a community playing field.
But its existing parking area, of just 10 spaces, leads to players and visitors parking along the road, creating a dangerous hazard.
The statement said: “Bacton United 89 Football Club strongly supports its junior teams and needs to provide appropriate facilities which will enable the team to thrive and grow.
“It is essential that an appropriate car park is provided to allow players to park safely at the club.”
The fresh plans also include an ecological statement which had been previously requested by the council’s officers.
The plans are now being looked at by the planning team, with a decision expected by November 3.
