Man rescued from cesspit in West Suffolk

Specialist equipment used to safely extricate the individual

Firefighters have used specialist equipment to rescue a man who fell in a cesspit in West Suffolk.

Crews from Ipswich East and Ixworth were called to a property on Wyken Road in Stanton at around 11am on Monday (18 May).

Upon arrival, they used specialist equipment to carry out a rescue from depth operation, successfully extricating the man from the pit.

Once he was safely brought to the surface, the firefighters provided initial first aid as he displayed symptoms of hypothermia.

The individual was handed over to the care of ambulance staff for further assessment and treatment.
