Drivers warned to expect delays during farmers’ protest on A14 and in Ipswich
Convoy of tractors to travel through the town and along the A14 on Monday, with police urging motorists to plan ahead.
Police are advising motorists to plan their journeys and expect delays next Monday (24 November), as a farmers’ protest involving a convoy of tractors moves through Ipswich and along the A14 to Felixstowe.
The demonstration will run from 10am to 4pm, beginning in Wherstead village before travelling along the A137 into Ipswich. The convoy will make its way through Wherstead Road, Hawes Street, Vernon Street and over Stoke Bridge, before continuing via Star Lane, Fore Street, Duke Street and onto Nacton Road.
From there, tractors will join the A14 eastbound at Junction 57, travelling to Dock Gate 1 at the Port of Felixstowe before looping back westbound towards Wherstead. The protest will then continue to cycle between Junction 56 and Felixstowe until it disperses at 4pm.
On the A14, tractors will travel at around 20mph in the outside lane to allow other vehicles to join and exit the route — but drivers should still expect significant delays.
Suffolk Police says it is working closely with organisers and partner agencies to ensure the protest is peaceful and safe.
