Police are appealing for witnesses, after a cyclist was injured in a collision in Exning, where the driver of the other vehicle failed to stop.

It happened at around 10.10pm on Thursday 25 June, on Burwell Road.

The cyclist, a man in his 50s, was cycling east, from Burwell into Exning, when he was struck by a car that was travelling in the same direction. He landed on the bonnet of the vehicle and then fell off it on the nearside, breaking the wing mirror off in the process.

The vehicle failed to stop and continued on into Exning. It is described as a small, dark-coloured car, possibly a Fiat.

The cyclist sustained numerous injuries to his neck, back, chest, shoulders, arms and legs, including sprains, cuts and bruises. The bicycle sustained severe damage and was unrideable and may be beyond repair.

Police are appealing for witnesses, including any other motorists driving in the area around the time of the collision with a dashcam fitted in their vehicle, who are asked to review the footage for any material that may be of assistance.

They would also like to hear from anyone who knows of a small dark-coloured car that has sustained recent damage, including a missing nearside wing mirror.
