Police in Bury St Edmunds are calling for witnesses following a reported sexual assault.

A woman in her 20s reported being attacked between 2:20am and 3am this morning (Saturday 10th October 2026) in the Parkway/Kings Road area, as she walked alone away from the town centre.

A man reportedly approached her from behind, pulled her to the ground, and sexually assaulted her.

A female member of the public helped the victim home, and detectives are asking this woman to come forward as she may hold crucial information for the investigation.

Detective Inspector Stuart Dolan-Allen says Suffolk Police are pursuing all lines of enquiry and are increasing patrols and conducting leaflet drops in the area.

Residents are encouraged to speak to officers if they have any concerns or information, and anyone with doorbell footage that may assist the investigation is urged to get in touch.

The suspect is described as around 40 years old, tall and slim with black hair, wearing grey joggers and a hoodie.

Suffolk Police are offering support to the victim through specially trained officers.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Suffolk police quoting reference number 37/59960/26, or reach out to Crimestoppers anonymously.
