A 55-year-old man has avoided jail for stalking a woman using tracking and listening devices.

The court heart that Glen Webb placed tracking and listening devices in his victim’s car, her family member's vehicle, and at her workplace.

The victim, who was known to Webb, grew suspicious after he made comments revealing knowledge of her whereabouts and private conversations with others.

After visiting a car repair garage, a black box containing a tracking device was discovered near the rear bumper of a family member’s vehicle.

The police were alerted when the victim found a listening device inside a plug socket at her workplace.

Additional monitoring devices were retrieved during police searches of her car, the family member's vehicle, and her workplace, all confirmed to have been purchased by Webb.

Webb was arrested on 3rd May 2023, with further electronic devices seized from his home.

Webb was sentenced yesterday at Ipswich Crown Court to 18 weeks’ imprisonment, suspended for 12 months.

Besides the suspended sentence, Webb must undergo a 12-day rehabilitation programme, complete 120 hours of unpaid work, and abide by a five-year restraining order.

DC Amy Bugg, the officer in charge, commented, “Webb’s actions are nothing short of unacceptable and demonstrate the extreme lengths some perpetrators will go in order to stalk their victim. His use of surveillance has had a deep impact on the victim, and I hope the conclusion of this case allows her to move forward.”
