A 36-year-old man from Beccles has been jailed for 28 months after admitting to breaching his sexual harm prevention order and making indecent images of children.

Benjamin Linard, from Old Mill Terraces, was sentenced at Ipswich Crown Court earlier this month.

Linard previously had a conviction in 2017 for similar offences, including distributing indecent images of children and possessing prohibited images, and was jailed for 20 months. He was also placed on the Violent and Sex Offenders Register (ViSOR) for 10 years and given an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

After his release from prison, Linard was monitored by the Public Protection Unit. On 6th February 2025, police arrested Linard following reports of accessing indecent images of children on his mobile phone. Subsequent examination of his phone revealed multiple indecent images and evidence of deleted internet searches related to such images.

Linard faced charges in October 2025 for these offences, leading to his latest sentencing.

Alongside his prison sentence, Linard is subject to a new Indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order, allowing police to track his online behavior for the next decade after his release.

A Public Protection Unit Officer stated, “Linard has demonstrated a relentless sexual interest in children. The new prohibitions will enable the police to monitor his activities, reducing public risk.”
