Recent hot weather has apparently taken its toll on the A143 with emergency repairs being carried out.

There have been reports of the road melting since Monday (6 July).

Suffolk Highways says the road was closed on Tuesday (7 July) due to the heat worsening existing problems, and workers are now fixing the worst defects.

They hope to open it by Monday (13 July), or even sooner, if all safety checks go smoothly.

These improvements were already planned for later in the summer, but the heat wave sped things up.
