On the day it turns 50 the Queen classic has been voted the Greatest Hit of the 70s, 80s and 90s in the Top 500 for the seventh year in a row.
To celebrate, we’re sharing a very special documentary, The Story of Bohemian Rhapsody, featuring exclusive interviews with Brian May and Roger Taylor. If you missed it live, you can listen again online or in the Rayo app.
Queen’s Brian May thanked all those who voted and assured them that the band still don’t take the song’s success for granted, saying: ‘Thank you for voting Bohemian Rhapsody number one in your 500 top songs. It’s not the first time it’s happened, but we will never take this for granted, thank you. It’s great to be there in the centre of the pulse of music so thank you for tuning in and thank you for staying with us.’
Band mate Roger Taylor agreed: ‘We are continually amazed and delighted by the fact that people still seem to love our now very old song and we’re just delighted that it’s given a lot of pleasure to a lot of people over fifty years. We feel honoured and just continually thrilled, so thank you so much to anybody that voted it number one.’
You can take a look at the Top 500 chart in full here.
