A 62-year-old man has been left with potentially life-changing injuries after being hit by a vehicle that didn't stop in Winsford.

Emergency services were called to High Street at the junction of Collingham Way on Thursday (1st January) to reports that a pedestrian had been hit.

The pedestrian suffered serious injuries to his legs and was taken to North Staffordshire Hospital.

His injuries are thought to be life-changing, Cheshire police say.

A police investigation is ongoing.

Detective Sergeant Russ Sime said: “This was a very serious incident that has left the victim with life-changing injuries, so in order to help us establish the circumstances that led to this collision occurring, we are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed it to please come forward.

“Early enquiries at the scene resulted in officers locating debris believed to have come from a car wing mirror, so I would also like to appeal to anyone who may have seen a vehicle with a missing wing mirror at around the time of the incident to also get in touch.”

Anyone with information is being urged to call the police on 101 and quote incident reference number IML-2243651.
