Warning for schools in Cheshire amid abduction attempts

Police have issued warnings after reports of two attempted abductions

Police say they're working closely with a schools in Cheshire after the attempted abductions of a number of teenage boys.

The latest happened yesterday in Congleton - when a 13-year-old was offered a lift home by a man in a grey Audi - as he walked home on Sandbach Road.

The child declined and returned to school, who reported to police.

A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: "At around 3.40pm on 17 September, Cheshire Police received a call from a school in Congleton reporting that a 13-year-old boy had been approached by a man in a vehicle whilst he was walking home along Sandbach Road.

"It was reported that the man in the car offered to give him a lift home. The child declined and returned to the school to inform staff, who subsequently called police.

"Following this the vehicle, believed to be a grey Audi, drove away from off from the area. At no point did the driver exit the vehicle. The driver was described as a white man in his early to mid-20s and had short brown hair.

"Officers are currently working with the school, and a number of enquiries are currently ongoing in relation to the incident."
