Uncontrolled fire damages van and storage containers in Dilhorne
Fire services urge caution in current warm weather
A controlled burn in Dilhorne spread to a van and several storage containers, prompting fire services to remind residents about the dangers of burning waste.
The fire broke out on Tickhill Lane at approximately 3.55pm on 15th July, quickly escalating beyond control.
Three fire appliances responded to the scene, successfully extinguishing the blaze using a hose reel jet. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
Station Manager Ant Ball attended and issued safety advice to the residents involved, emphasising that small fires can rapidly become unmanageable, particularly in warm weather.
He advised against burning waste in gardens and recommended disposal at local tips instead.
This incident highlights the risks associated with burning rubbish and serves as a critical reminder to ensure safe practices during periods of high temperature.
