Two men have been charged with murder following the death of Jamie Evans, a 20-year-old from Stone, in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

Corey Hughes, 20, and Connor Edward Cartlidge, 22, both from Newcastle-under-Lyme, have been accused of murder and possession of a knife in a public place.

Their arrest comes after a tragic incident on Orme Road on Friday, 4th September, where emergency services were alerted to a collision involving a Ford Fiesta and a parked Audi.

Jamie Evans, the driver of the Ford Fiesta, was discovered with a serious injury consistent with a stab wound, reportedly sustained on Orme Road before entering his vehicle.

Despite efforts to save him, Jamie Evans was pronounced dead shortly after.

Currently, Hughes and Cartlidge are in custody and will appear at North Staffordshire Justice Centre on Tuesday, 8th September.

Meanwhile, a 19-year-old man from Newcastle-under-Lyme, initially arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder, has been released on conditional bail while inquiries continue.
