The Potteries Centre, a major retail and leisure destination in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, has been sold by XPE Group Plc to Belgate Estates.

Previously managed by XPE Group Plc in partnership with property management firm Savills, The Potteries Centre has played an important role as a hub for national and local retailers, as well as food, beverage, and leisure operators.

This acquisition marks Belgate Estates’ eighth shopping centre purchase and aligns with their strategy of managing vibrant, mixed-use retail environments. The company brings vast experience in supporting businesses and maintaining successful shopping centres, which they aim to continue at The Potteries Centre.

The Centre is set to remain a key commercial and community asset under Belgate Estates’ ownership, with the company committing to a long-term approach focused on sustaining its role in the Stoke-on-Trent area.

Commenting on the change in ownership, a Stoke-on-Trent City Council spokesperson said: “We have been made aware of the recent transfer of ownership of the Potteries Centre and we are actively engaged with the new owners, Belgate Estates, to ensure a seamless transition for our customers and traders within Hanley Indoor Market.”

Former Centre Manager Amy Whittaker also shared her thoughts on leaving The Potteries Centre: “Today is a very sad day as I say goodbye to The Potteries Centre! The team, friends and colleagues. I am absolutely gutted. I wish everyone the best for the festive season and the future.”

Belgate Estates acknowledged the prior management work of Pradera Lateral and Savills and stated their intention to build on this foundation for the Centre's next chapter.
