A teenage boy has died after being injured by a fallen tree in Stafford.

Police were called to Holmcroft Road shortly after 6:30pm yesterday evening (Saturday 2 May).

It is reported that paramedics, from West Midlands Ambulance Service, spent around an hour trying to save the 15-year-old boy, who has been named locally as Broden.

Tragically, Broden was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 7:30pm.

Police are still looking into the incident, as a cordon remains in place in Holmcroft Road.

A post on the Stafford & District Sunday Football League Facebook group said all of their matches on Sunday would hold a one-minute silence before kick-off.

Prayers were said on Sunday at St Bertelin’s Church Stafford “for the young man, for his family, and for all who knew and who loved him”.

A Facebook post for the church also said it will be open for anyone who wanted to light a candle for the boy or to leave flowers.

Ribbons are also being tied to a wooden cross at the side of the church as a tribute.
