Teen jailed for fatal hit-and-run in Stoke-on-Trent

He's been sentenced to six and half years in jail

A 17-year-old boy has been jailed after fatally hitting a teenager whilst driving dangerously without a license in Stoke-on-Trent.

Harley Hough, of Longton, Stoke-on-Trent, has been jailed for six and half years.

The court heard how on 17th October 2025, Hough was speeding in a BMW 1 Series when he overtook another car on Dawlish Drive, Bentilee.

He hit 17-year-old Alex Woodward, who was crossing the street at the time.

Hough didn't stop at the scene but carried on driving.

Alex died the next morning in hospital.

Two days after the incident, Hough handed himself into officers, telling them he didn't know the speed limit on Dawlish Drive.

He was charged with: causing death by dangerous driving, failing to stop after an accident, driving a vehicle involved in a road accident failing to report that accident, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and driving without third party insurance.
