Stone town centre road improvement scheme completed, enhancing key routes
Project sees significant repairs and resurfacing of main roads in Stone
A significant road improvement scheme in Stone town centre has been completed, following months of extensive work.
The project has brought enhancements to key roads including Crown Street, Newcastle Street, Station Road, Granville Square, Christchurch Way, and Radford Street.
As part of the scheme, repairs were carried out on kerbs, footways, and drains, alongside the installation of tactile crossing points, with the final resurfacing completed last week.
Patrick Allen, Staffordshire County Council’s Cabinet Support Member for Highways, praised the project, stating: “This has been a significant scheme and an important one for Stone as it will bring huge improvements for motorists in a thriving town centre."
The work was timed to coincide with the school summer holidays to minimise disruption, with the project team carrying out recent overnight resurfacing to ensure completion stayed on schedule.
Allen added: “We do appreciate that any major scheme, particularly in town centres, will be disruptive, so we’d again like to thank people for their patience and understanding while work has taken place."
The completion of the scheme demonstrates the council's commitment to maintaining good quality roads across the county.
