Stoke-on-Trent man jailed for stabbing two people with scissors in park
Abdulrahin Abbker pleaded guilty to two counts of wounding and one count of possessing a bladed article in a public place
A 25-year-old man from Stoke-on-Trent has been jailed for two years after stabbing two people with a pair of scissors in Hanley Park earlier this year.
Abdulrahin Abbker pleaded guilty to two counts of wounding and one count of possessing a bladed article in a public place at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on 5th November.
The attack happened in May when Abbker approached the two victims in the park, leading to an argument. He then took scissors out of his bag and used them to stab one man in the stomach and another in the leg.
Police were called to the park after a 999 call and quickly arrested Abbker at the scene. Both victims were taken to hospital, but their injuries were neither life-threatening nor life-changing, and they have since made full recoveries.
DC Isobel Holliday from the criminal investigation department said:
“Abbker could have easily caused far more serious harm in this incident and has been rightfully convicted for his actions.
“Those who commit high harm offences in our communities will be relentlessly pursued by officers who are determined to seek the toughest possible punishment for violent offenders in court.”
