Stoke-on-Trent man jailed for public indecency and drug possession
41-year-old sentenced to eight months and given sexual harm prevention order
A man has been jailed after exposing himself and engaging in a sexual act in public spaces in Stoke-on-Trent.
Christopher Mander, 41, who is of no fixed address, was sentenced at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on 20th July to eight months behind bars.
He admitted outraging public decency, exposure, and possession of a class B controlled drug known as monkey dust.
Alongside his prison term, Mander received a three-year sexual harm prevention order.
This order restricts him from intentionally exposing his genitals in public places and from entering the premises or grounds of ASDA on Scotia Road in Tunstall while in effect.
Mander's arrest and subsequent charges followed incidents where he exposed himself in Tunstall on 11th November of the previous year and Bucknall on 5th February of this year.
Investigating officer, PC Annabel Ratcliffe, emphasised the police's dedication to tackling all forms of sexual offences, stating:
"We're committed to tackling all forms of sexual offending and we take reports of this nature very seriously."
She highlighted the significant impact such offences can have on victims and the community, adding awareness of similar reports in north Staffordshire.
“We won’t tolerate them and we are committed to taking action against those responsible, as this case shows."
PC Ratcliffe also expressed concern over the potential escalation of offences, noting the lasting repercussions for offenders.
