Staffordshire school to stay shut after sickness outbreak
Congleton High School has been closed since Wednesday after a large number of pupils suffered flu-like symptoms
Congleton High School will remain closed on Friday following what is thought to be a flu outbreak.
The school, in Cheshire, has been closed since Wednesday, where a deep clean of the building took place.
In letter to parents, headteacher Heidi Thurland said the school would remain shut until Monday.
The school has been advised by the UK Health Security Agency, Cheshire East Health Protection Team and the Infection Control Team.
Ms Thurland said: "Our priority throughout this has been the safety and wellbeing of our students and staff.
"I would like to acknowledge the support from the community in appreciating the steps we have needed to take.
"This support is really welcomed and continues to demonstrate how our school community works together in challenging situations.
She added: "We are aware our infection rates remain high across the school community of students and staff. We have therefore made the decision to remain closed to all students on Friday 28th November."
The school is also holding a flu vaccination drop-in clinic this Saturday.
