Staffordshire man jailed for 21 years over historic child sex offences
67 year old Keith Barker was sentenced at Stoke Crown Court
A Biddulph man has been jailed for more than two decades after being found guilty of a string of child sexual offences dating back to the 1990s.
67-year-old Keith Barker was sentenced to 21 years in prison at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court last Thursday (7 August).
A jury convicted him in May of six counts of indecent assault of a girl, two counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a girl and one count of attempting to have sexual intercourse with a girl.
He’s also been placed on the Sex Offenders Register.
The offences came to light after a survivor contacted police in February 2022.
"reassurance"
Detective Constable Tiffany Berry, worked on the case, she said: “I would like to commend the bravery of the survivor in this case for coming forward and reporting what had happened to her in the 1990s.
“I hope this sentencing brings some reassurance that Barker is now behind bars and no matter how much time has passed, we will work hard to bring offenders to justice.”
Police are encouraging anyone who feels ready to speak about their experiences to contact them via 101 or Live Chat on their website.
