Stafford cocaine dealer jailed

A cocaine and cannabis dealer has been jailed for more than five years after he was stopped by police in Stafford.

Ashley Makamo, 23, of Stafford, was stopped by proactive officers on Stone Road in November 2022 for the purpose of a drug search.

The force said how he had three different mobile phones on him, with one of them being a burner phone. Messages had been sent from the phone advertising the sale of cocaine and cannabis in local communities. Another phone had messages on it relating to the sale of nitrous oxide.

A spokesperson for the force said:

"We searched his home and found four bags of cannabis. Valued together, the drugs had an estimated street value of £3,630.

"Digital scales were also found in his home, which had traces of cannabis on them when they were forensically tested.

"As a result, Makamo was brought in for questioning and was charged with a number of offences. He pleaded guilty to the charges at an earlier court hearing, including being concerned in the supply of cocaine, possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class B – cannabis, being concerned in the supply of a controlled drug of class B – cannabis and being concerned in the offer to supply a class C drug."

Makamo was jailed for five-years-and-two-months at Stafford Crown Court on Wednesday (12 November).
