Joseph Alfasi has been sentenced to eight years and six months in prison for raping a girl near Congleton.

The 23-year-old, from Ginkgo Grove in Somerford, was convicted of three counts of rape and one count of assault by penetration following his trial at Chester Crown Court.

Alfasi was sentenced on 13th October, having been found guilty of the offences which occurred at his home in March 2023.

During police interviews, Alfasi denied any wrongdoing but was unable to explain the presence of his DNA on the victim, leading to his charge.

Detective Constable Kris Aston praised the victim's courage and strength throughout the investigation and trial, stating: "It is thanks to her bravery and determination that a dangerous predator has been held responsible for his horrific actions."

The victim shared a message expressing gratitude for the support she received, stating, "I know how rare it is to get an outcome as good as this. Thank you for helping me speak my truth and feel seen."

Alfasi was found not guilty of one count of assault by penetration.

Detective Aston hopes the sentence provides the victim with closure and encourages other victims to come forward and report offences.
