'Skeletal remains' found at former Midway car park in Newcastle-under-Lyme

Skeletal remains have been discovered at a construction site in Newcastle-under-Lyme, officers say.

They were called out to the Midway, which used to be the Midway multi-storey car park, yesterday afternoon (27 May).

A cordon is in place as investigations continue.

A Staffordshire Police spokesperson said: "We were called at 1.35pm on Wednesday 27 May to reports of skeletal remains been found on a construction site on The Midway, formerly the Midway car park, Newcastle-under-Lyme.

"A scene has been put in place while we carry out initial enquiries."
