Seven-year-old boy dies following collision on A38 at Swinfen
Police seek witnesses and dashcam footage
A collision on the A38 at Swinfen has resulted in the death of a seven-year-old boy.
The tragic accident occurred on 7th March at approximately 5am involving a blue Vauxhall Mokka.
The boy died at the scene, while the circumstances of the incident remain under investigation.
Specialist officers are currently providing support to the child's family.
Police from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for witnesses to come forward, particularly anyone who may have seen the boy or the Vauxhall prior to the collision.
Sgt Chris Sweetmore has emphasized the importance of receiving information from anyone who was present on either side of the A38 at the time.
"The collision occurred on the northbound carriageway, but we are keen to hear from witnesses who saw anyone on either side of the A38 at Swinfen around 5am," Sgt Sweetmore said.
"This incident is devastating for everyone involved and we continue to investigate the circumstances.
"Speculation as to what may have occurred is not helpful for the family or the wider investigation and I would ask that people refrain from putting comments on social media as to their thoughts and opinions."
Anyone with dashcam footage or information relevant to the investigation is urged to contact police.
