A man from Biddulph has been jailed for two years after calling a woman around 400 times in a week, despite being banned from having contact with her.

38-year-old Sean Philip Vincent pleaded guilty to intimidating a witness or juror and stalking involving serious alarm or distress.

The court heard how in June Vincent called and sent messages and voice notes through different phone numbers and social media accounts to the victim.

He was on bail with conditions not to contact her.

He initially pleaded not guilty but changed his plea to guilty at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.

Police Constable Olivia May said: “Firstly I commend the bravery of the victim in this case in coming forward and reporting what happened to her.

“I hope Vincent’s conviction and sentence can offer her some closure and shows that we take such reports extremely seriously and will act against those responsible.

“I would urge any victims of such crimes to come forward and report it to us; we will listen and do our best to bring you justice.”
