Firefighter discharged from hospital after 13 days following Sandyford fire
The service says he still has a journey of recovery ahead

A firefighter who was seriously injured tackling a fire in Stoke-on-Trent has been discharged from hospital after 13 days.
Six firefighters were taken to hospital after the fire, which was caused by a disposable barbeque, in Sandyford on August 13.
It began in a grassy area at the back of Wignall Road, spreading to gardens and homes along Sandy Road and Maureen Avenue.
The firefighters suffered smoke inhalation and the effects of heat exhaustion.
Five were quickly discharged from hospital, while the remaining firefighter spent a week receiving treatment in critical care before leaving hospital yesterday (26 August).
A Staffordshire Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: "Although this is a positive step, he still has a journey of recovery ahead and will continue to be supported by the service.
His family would like to thank everyone who has sent well wishes and support over the past two weeks. They have been incredibly grateful for the kindness shown to them."
They continued: "His family hope that his experience encourages people to think carefully before using barbeques or other ignition sources on our greenspaces in Staffordshire."
