MP calls for independent inquiry into ambulance delays at the Royal Stoke
Patients said to be waiting up to 17 hours outside the hospital
An MP has called for an independent inquiry after saying patients are waiting up to 17 hours in ambulances outside the Royal Stoke.
Dr Allison Gardner, PARTY MP for CONSTITUENCY, raised ambulance handover delays in Westminster Hall.
She asked the Minister to launch an independent inquiry.
In a social media post, Dr Gardner said: "Patients waiting up to 17 hours in ambulances outside the Royal Stoke is absolutely unacceptable."
She said ambulances stuck outside the hospital cannot respond to other emergencies.
Dr Gardner said: "When ambulances are stuck outside the Royal Stoke, they're not on the road responding to other emergencies."
She said the inquiry is not about blaming frontline staff.
Dr Gardner said: "This is not about blaming our hardworking frontline staff. It IS about getting to the bottom of the wider problems causing these delays."
She said she has already met the integrated care board.
She said she will also meet the trust and NHS England.
Dr Gardner said: "My constituents deserve better - UHNM must bring these wait times down."
UHNM is the University Hospitals of North Midlands.
