Stoke-on-Trent homes set to get ONE BIN for recycling

Residents in Stoke-on-Trent can look forward to a more streamlined and efficient recycling service as the city council prepares to launch single-stream recycling.

Under the new system, all recyclable waste can be placed in one bin, eliminating the need for separate recycling boxes and blue recycling bins.

This change aims to make recycling more accessible and convenient, while improving collection efficiency and reducing the number of separate rounds required.

Collected materials will be taken by vehicles to a Materials Recovery Facility, where machines and workers sort the items.

Councillor Amjid Wazir OBE, Cabinet Member for City Pride, Environment and Sustainability, highlighted that the new service is designed to work efficiently, allowing residents who previously used both a box and a blue bin to consolidate their recyclables into the blue bin if they wish.

For households currently using only recycling boxes, the existing service will continue, except where changes are feasible.

These adaptations are part of Stoke-on-Trent’s commitment to delivering a more customer-focused service that makes recycling quicker and easier for residents.

The city council has confirmed that the new recycling collection service will be available to residents soon.
